AMGM members to celebrate IMD2020 across Maharashtra

Greetings from Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM)!
Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM), founded in the year 1991, is an apex organization for mountaineering in the Maharashtra State (India). We at AMGM would be celebrating the ‘International Mountain Day 2020’ on various levels.

The state of Maharashtra (India) has been blessed with ‘Sahyadri Mountain Ranges’. The whole ‘Western Ghats’ region (Sahyadri Mountain Ranges are part of the Western Ghats) has very high bio-diversity and has been recognised as a UNESCO heritage.

As a part of the ‘International Mountain Day 2020’ celebrations, we have already informed our member organizations to conduct various activities, as outlined by FAO, such as visiting a nearby mountain and posting a photo of the visit, writing short stories / essays about the rich bio-diversity found in the Sahyadri mountains, writing short stories / essays about the importance of mountains, conducting online sessions to educate people and so on. Being an apex organization, we will be coordinating all these activities and will also be providing a platform to give publicity to all these events. We will also be using the ‘#MountainsMatter‘ hashtag in our social media posts related to all these activities.
